Chris Nolan's Presentation
A .com sites are commercial and are trying to sell a product. These sites are less scholerly than something like NASA.gov. A (.gov) website is very scholerly because the government has created this website. Usually with a (.gov) website, there is an author who has their doctorate in the topics information and is usually pretty credible. If you attach a (-.com) to the end of your search, the only hits that will be presented will be everything but .com hits. You will see some .nets, .edu, .gov, ect. • If you use google scholar, you will get much more scholerly articles. It will also present the number of citations. Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Way to move their search results up the list of keyword hit.Google is great for specific information. If a topic is more broad, a encyclopedia or library resource would be a lot more effective. Wikipedia can have false information if enough people agree with the web page. Be cautious when using a Wikipedia article. These articles do not have an author. Credible sites could have an author, publisher, intended purpose/audience, Objectivity, Substantiation for claims, and Recency of information.
